The Role

We are looking for a Senior Solidity Engineer to join our core team. Your work will include the design, implementation, and deployment of critical infrastructure powering the Monad blockchain.

You will contribute to development of major projects with a smart contract component, such as bridges, order books, staking, and NFT minting services.
You'll contribute to design, development, testing, and deployment of these new features. You'll make critical decisions on security and maintainability. Your work will power components with billions of dollars of TVL; as such, you'll need to maintain exceptional focus in defining invariants and defending against attacks.
You'll also contribute to design and development of new VM features that enable developers to build more powerful dapps. The smart contracts you develop will serve as initial use cases for new features that we are pioneering in the Monad VM, which supports and extends the EVM.

Requirements

Required prior experience:
3+ years of smart contract development including production deployments of original protocols
Extensive knowledge of Solidity and the EVM
Extensive knowledge of smart contract security and common pitfalls (e.g. you understand the cause of all historical reentrancy attacks and other vulnerabilities)
Extensive experience with proper deployment and security practices
Experience writing extensive unit and integration tests

What you'll be doing

You'll contribute to design and development of major projects with a smart contract component such as bridges, order books, staking, and NFT minting services. This will draw on your knowledge of existing tools as well as leveraging new primitives in Monad's VM.
You'll develop rigorous unit and integration tests, and thoroughly consider potential attack vectors
You'll contribute to architectural decisions that maximize security and minimize trust requirements
You'll collaborate with the rest of the team to develop features of the Monad VM
You'll hire other smart contract engineers
You'll mentor junior engineers and interns
You'll think strategically about initiatives or features that will aid in early adoption of the Monad blockchain

Aashish, expert systems designer and hacker, previously the first engineer at Pattern Research, a leading crypto HFT firm, where he designed and built the entire trading stack from scratch

Salary and benefits

Minimum full-time salary of $200,000 - $250,000. (**This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary; a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.)

About the Team
Scale is at Worldcoin’s core. The Protocol team is responsible for fulfilling this mission in a decentralized way by imagining, building, and maintaining trustless systems that can scale to billions of people. One of the ways we do this is through a privacy-preserving protocol that powers WorldID using state-of-the art cryptography. We are active in the Ethereum ecosystem, and work with the wider community to solve limitations around blockchain scalability. Our team builds Rust services deployed on Kubernetes clusters that generate and verify zero-knowledge proofs and interact with the Ethereum Blockchain and various Layer 2 solutions.

About the Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to lead the development and roadmap of a significant component of our Protocol, which allows for privacy at-scale. This is the first step in our roadmap towards a privacy-preserving digital identity ecosystem.

In this role, you will:
Work primarily in Rust, with some exposure to smart contracts in Solidity, TypeScript and Go.
Work on the latest technologies and developments in blockchain and cryptography.
Contribute to feature development and code reviews.
Work closely with and learn from experts in domains like AI, cryptography, blockchain all the way to hardware manufacturing.
Work on a nimble team of blockchain engineers to execute on product and company-wide roadmaps and help improve engineering and implement best practices. Take ownership over deployed services that power our scalability solutions.
About You
An advocate for always delivering high-quality code.
Deep expertise developing services in compiled languages, preferably Rust.
Prior experience with Kubernetes, devops, blockchain development, Layer 2 scalability or zero-knowledge applications are nice-to-haves, but not required.
A curiosity and passion for Web3, open-source code, privacy and digital identity.
A bias towards action and willingness to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
Self-driven - you’re not afraid to take risks and make big bets.
Total compensation is base salary and a token package. Salary range is estimated for a Senior Engineer in SF/NY market.
