ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY

Cyber Security Administrator (Remote in Texas)

Central Office (Waco, Texas)

Remote opportunity if residing in Texas.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The primary purpose of this position is to develop and manage the complex information security activities for the Brazos River Authority (BRA). Responsibilities include: developing, monitoring, and maintaining cybersecurity processes and controls; deploying cybersecurity infrastructure; assessing business needs against security concerns, advising management about cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities and recommending necessary changes to enhance information systems security; monitoring essential processes to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, best practices and industry standards; identifying security concerns, evaluating alternatives, and implementing effective solutions; developing and managing an incident response plan and recovery program; developing and implementing appropriate safeguards to ensure system resiliency; providing high-level customer service to staff; developing cybersecurity awareness training; working closely with users to troubleshoot issues and research methods of improving business processes; coordinating with auditors on information security; creating and maintaining program reports and documentation and clearly communicating the effectiveness of IT security measures. Responsibilities also include collaborating with IT on endpoint protection and intrusion prevention systems; ensuring that the server, network operations, and applications are compliant with security policies and procedures; working closely with Information and Cyber Technology Manager to conduct business analyses and internal cybersecurity projects; and any other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to: manage and oversee the development, monitoring, and maintenance of cybersecurity processes and controls; to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions; to prepare reports; to implement cybersecurity best practices and awareness; and to communicate effectively. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to cybersecurity, privacy, and computer crime; of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems; of technology across all network layers and computer platforms; of operational support of networks, operating systems, Internet technologies, databases, and security applications; of cybersecurity controls, procedures, and regulations; and of incident response program practices and procedures.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology security, computer engineering, computer information systems, computer science, management information systems, or a related field plus 6 years of progressive cybersecurity experience.
