Job Description:

The Data Center Solutions Business Unit is responsible for building board and silicon level products for storage, machine learning, and other accelerator applications with Best in Class performance and flexibility. As a senior staff engineer, you will be part of the Flashtech Architecture team that defines future product direction, guides the development teams that implement hardware and firmware features, and engages with storage and server system architects.

Data Center Solutions include System on Chip NVMe based flash controllers. The controllers are used in products for the high performance and mainstream segment of the enterprise and data center storage markets.

Our focus is on technical excellence, teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement in an open and encouraging environment. We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical background in product development, embedded systems, and storage protocols.

Responsibilities:

Provide a technical vision for future product direction


Propose and specify the high-level features and architecture for new products


Provide guidance and insight during in hardware and firmware design reviews


Regularly review and discuss issues with the development teams


Assist troubleshooting of difficult problems reported by internal test/development teams and by global customers


Write comprehensive engineering architecture documentation

Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred)


15+ years industry experience in product development


Strong aptitude for designing and debugging embedded system issues


Knowledge of storage and compute protocols


Excellent analytical, problem solving, and documentation skills


Effective communicator of technical ideas, both verbal and written


Self-motivated, team-oriented, ability and resourcefulness to achieve goals with minimal supervision


Capable of working with customers and technology partners in the architecture phase and in feature design



Value-add Qualifications:

Detailed knowledge of PCI Express interface, data flow, and programming models


Detailed knowledge of NVMe programming models


Detailed knowledge performance modeling


Experience with MIPS/ARM/RISCV embedded CPU architectures, RTOS and SoC peripheral protocols


Knowledge of artificial intelligence topics and applications


Knowledge of security topics and applications


Experience with storage system or virtualization software


Knowledge of Agile development process

Pay Range:

The expected base salary range for this position, if filled in California, is $75,000 - $232,000, dependent on specific skills and work experience. We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments.
