1. Create an Account on Namecheap
The first step to getting a free domain from Namecheap is to create an account on their platform. Visit the Namecheap website and click on the “Sign In” button in the top right corner of the page. Then click on “Create an Account” and enter your details such as your name, email address, and password. Once you’ve filled out the necessary information, click “Create Account” to proceed.
2. Verify Your .edu Email Address
After creating your account, you’ll need to verify your .edu email address. To do this, click on the “Account” button in the top right corner of the page, then select “Profile”. Scroll down to the “Email Settings” section and click on “Add Email”. Enter your .edu email address and click “Add”. Namecheap will send a verification email to your .edu email address. Follow the instructions in the email to verify your address.
3. Claim Your Free Domain
Once your .edu email address has been verified, you can claim your free domain. To do this, go to the Namecheap Education Program page and click on the “Claim Your Free Domain” button. Enter your verified .edu email address and click “Submit”. Namecheap will send you a unique coupon code to your .edu email address.
4. Register Your Free Domain
After receiving the coupon code, you can use it to register your free domain on Namecheap’s platform. Go to the Namecheap website and search for your desired domain name. Once you’ve found it, add it to your cart and proceed to checkout. Enter the coupon code in the “Promo Code” field and click “Apply”. The price of the domain should then be reduced to $0.00.
5. Complete the Checkout Process
After applying the coupon code, you can complete the checkout process by entering your billing and payment details. Since the domain registration is free, you won’t be required to provide any payment information. Once you’ve entered your details, review your order and click “Confirm Order” to complete the registration process.
