Leading social media platform Twitter has announced that it will begin allowing users to buy, sell and display NFTs directly through tweets. This new NFT feature is the first project under the Elon Musk administration.

The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, took control of the social media platform earlier this week after successfully sealing a $44 billion purchase deal. The billionaire investor used personal assets, investment funds, and bank loans to secure the purchase of the social media giant.

Twitter Launches Tweet Tiles For NFTs
In an October 27 blog post, Twitter confirmed plans to allow social media users to buy and sell NFTs. The social media platform will let users display their NFTs through several popular NFT marketplaces.

The new integration, dubbed “NFT Tweet Tiles,” will allow users to display the artwork of an NFT in a dedicated panel with a tweet. The new NFT option will feature a button that allows users to buy and sell digital collectibles.

The new NFT feature is in the testing phase. It will work with four popular NFT marketplaces, including Solana-powered marketplace Magic Eden, multi-platform NFT marketplace protocol Rarible, Flow blockchain creator Dapper Labs, and sports-centric platform Jump.trade.

Twitter’s NFT Feature To Support All Networks
While commenting about the NFT integration in a short interview, a Twitter representative confirmed that the new NFT feature is blockchain-agnostic; thus, it will all networks so long as the links are from the listed marketplace.

The listed digital asset marketplaces already span several blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Flow, Polygon, and Immutable X. Before summarizing, the Twitter representative noted that:

“The NFT feature is currently being tested with select Twitter users across iOS and web. Those users will see the NFT Tweet Tile integration if they’re in the test group. A Twitter Blue premium subscription is not required to use the feature.”

In August, its rival social media platform Meta launched a similar NFT functionality, allowing users to seamlessly share their non-fungible tokens across digital wallets linked to their social media networks.
